A Short “Tour” to SMKN 5 Tangerang Selatan

Hi! My name is Yos Agung Saputro. I’m a Pharmacy student majoring in SMKN 5 Tangerang Selatan and today, I’m going to take you on a “tour” to my school!

SMKN 5 Tangerang is a vocational, Adiwayata-based school founded in 2015 with three majors: Clinical Pharmacy, Graphic Design, and Welding Technique. It is located on Jl. Benda Raya No. 7, Pd. Benda, Pamulang, South Tangerang City, Banten. I live near the area of the school, and I can assure you that the route is accessible, often times without any traffic jams at all. I usually went there by foot, but you can choose to drive your personal vehicle(s) or take the public transportation(s).

The entrance gate is huge, with two security officers guarding it. To the left is the ‘Ulil Al-Baab Musholla and the Graphic Design major’s Bagen Production Technopark (it’s a cool teaching factory and shop for future entrepreneurs). And then, right in front of us stood a tall, yellow-colored building. This is the A building. There are two more of this building: the B building and the C building. Let’s go inside through the lobby. Pictures of the teachers were hung all over the wall and a cabinet filled with lots of the school’s winning trophies sat right across a set of waiting chairs. There, we’ll be greeted by a staff or a teacher-on-duty.

If we walk down a small staircase in front of us, we’ll be standing at the wide main field surrounded by greeneries, where most of the outdoor activities took place, such as the flag ceremony and the Physical Education period. The field is a combination of three sports fields: soccer field, voleyball field, and a basketball field.

Now we’re back again at the lobby. If we walk to the right, we’ll see the administration office and the principal’s office. And if we walk to the left, we’ll see the teachers’ office, restrooms, a warehouse, and one of the many staircases to the second floor. On the back of the C building, we can eat whatever delicious menu we want on the school’s comfy cafeteria!

Since we’ve basically reached the end of the A building’s hallway, we’ll have to navigate to our right (the B building’s hall) and we’ll encounter two computer labs, a snacking place ran by the OSIS and/or the Pramuka, another staircase up to the second floor, a library, and three classrooms. Three more classrooms are on the C building, which is to our right. Don’t forget that every hallways of every buildings have restrooms and a staircase at the end of the hall. The Pharmacy major lab is on the right wing of the C building, next to the school’s health service room and the Welding Technique major’s workshop.

On the second floor, there are nine classrooms which are randomly assigned each semester for the three different majors, three pairs of staircases (one goes up to the third floor, one goes down to the first floor), and three pairs of restrooms. At the right wing of the C building’s second floor, there’s the Graphic Design major workshop. The same goes for the third floor, except that this one has a big hall for events on the building’s wing, and only three staircases heading below to the second floor.

SMKN 5 Tangerang Selatan offers many extracurricular activities which include Pramuka (Indonesian scouts), Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka (PASKIBRAKA), Palang Merah Remaja (Indonesian adolescent Red Cross Society), futsal club, basketball club, badminton club, choir club, Ratoh Jaroe dance club, English club, Tae Kwon Do club, Silat club, RohIs club (Rohani Islam), and Marawis club.

I go to school for five days a week, Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM. I love going here because the teachers, staffs, and my peers are warm and lovely. You should join me because we’ll learn so much, ranging from general knowledge, to how to master the majoring skills that are useful for the future jobs!
